Waterfield Designs iPhone Hint Slip Case Review
I haven’t looked at an iPhone case in some time, and with the iPhone 4s form factor matching that of the iPhone 4 many of my earlier reviews are still relevant.
However, I’d like to introduce you to the iPhone Hint from SFBags. It fuses the convenience of a flip case, with the all-round protection of a slip case and adds a little mesh pocket for cash and credit cards for good measure.
The hint is a diminutive, no frills, leather slip case available in black or brown leather ( the brown has aged beautifully well on my sample ), it’s quirk is a simple transparent plastic window through which you can not only see, but interact with your iPhone. This means you can check your texts or email without having to pull it out of the slip case.
The screen isn’t perfectly responsive through the plastic window, so gaming and prolonged use aren’t really possible. But most of the time you’ll be pulling the phone out of your pocket to check something quickly and will be glad to be rid of the extra step of removing it from the slip case.
The case is well made and wears well, gaining a lively leather character over time, the inside is lined with a soft black material and the pocket on the back has room enough for some cash, so you can leave the wallet at home altogether if necessary.
I’ve been using the case for some time now, and find it a cut above most slip cases in convenience, even though it’s not so great on the aesthetic front.
I’d recommend it to folks who have shied away from svelte slip cases because it’s awkward to remove your phone from them every time you want to use it.
At $25 the iPhone Hint is also one of the cheaper real-leather slip cases and is well worth picking up.
