Micro SIM Cutter From MobileFun
With the rise of the Micro SIM, and the outright sensibility of picking from the growing pool of SIM-free mobile phones instead of tying yourself into a lengthy, inescapable contract, the need to cut SIM cards down to Micro SIM size is all too common.
Many SIM-only, rolling-monthly contracts come with full-sized SIM cards currently, and getting that full-sized SIM down to Micro SIM size to fit your phone can be a tricky process that, if done wrong, results in a tiny, tiny flake of useless plastic.
Enter the Micro SIM cutter. A tool designed to chop your full-sized SIM into Micro SIM proportions.
The tool is simple, place is on a hard flat surface, insert SIM, push down.
The first time I did this correctly and got a perfect little Micro SIM out.
The second time I missed out step 1, placed it on a soft-flat surface, inserted SIM and pressed down. The result was a decidedly mangled cutter and mangled SIM. But, surprisingly, SIM cards are fairly resilient and the result still worked.
The third time, mangled cutter ( which I’d straightened out a bit with a hammer ) in hand I set about cutting my freshly purchased, actual SIM.
It worked well enough and, after a tidy up with a pair of scissors, I have a working Micro SIM in my iPhone 4. Lesson of the day: if you want to cut your SIM down to size with the least chance of failure, grab one of these and do it on a hard surface.
If you’re confident enough, however, a pair of scissors and a cutting guide will suffice!
