Port Designs Shanghai 11.6″ Laptop Bag Reviewed
So, you’ve got an 11″ Laptop. It’s probably a MacBook Air. And you need a similarly svelte and aesthetically pleasing laptop bag to tote it around in? Port Designs have just the thing in the form of the Shanghai 11.6″ Notebook Messenger Bag.
It’s a compact bag with a reversible flap which will squeeze in the 11″ MacBook Air, power adaptor, a few accessories and even an iPad if you want to ferry one of those about, too.
The flap is reversible, flipping from a plain, minimalist grey to a patterned alternative which makes it a great choice for both guys and gals alike. It’s quick and easy to flip, although the plastic clips which hold the flap on aren’t the most durable things in the world.
The bag will fit an 11″ MacBook Air, although it’s a bit of a squeeze, and surrounds it with plenty of padding on the front, back and sides.
There’s a pocket at the front for accessories, and a slip pocket in the back for shoving the power adaptor if you need to keep it handy. Inside is the main laptop pocket, and a second compartment with a couple of mesh pockets for keeping gubbins from rattling around.
The choice of grey with red accents is a good one, and keeps the bag a little more toned down and far less obnoxious than other Port bags I’ve looked at.
Overall, it’s a grey low cost solution for toting around a MacBook Air, and isn’t likely to betray its valuable contents as similarly sized but far more expensive leather alternatives might.
Thus far it’s the most attractive bag I’ve managed to dig up for the MacBook Air, although it still falls short of SFBags Muzetto, which I’d love to get my hands on.
