Cygnett Snaps Duo iPhone 4 Silicone Bumpers Review
My distaste of silicone cases will forever cloud my judgement of this particular category of products. In fact, I get emails from Chinese factories about once a month asking if I want to bulk-buy some generic silicone phone cases- they’re definitely the underdog of phone protection, but it’s not entirely impossible to make something worthwhile.
Cygnett have gone an interesting route with silicone, in the form of the Snaps Duo. A pair of bumpers in contrasting but complimentary colours that give you either a day to day choice of dress for your iPhone, or something to share with a partner.
As far as silicone goes, the Snaps Duo aren’t bad. There’s no over presence of mould lines, an all too common problem, and the cases fit the iPhone acceptably well with a little adjustment. They’re slightly on the loose side, but this is to be expected from most silicone.
The colour choices are good, although black makes an appearance in every Duo set, making them somewhat less appealing for those of you who like vibrant colours. Still, there’s nothing wrong with having a bit of formal black handy, if you don’t want your iPhone to be obnoxiously obvious.
The really key benefit to the Snaps Duo set, and the reason for its reasonably high price, is the inclusion of front-and-back protection for your iPhone. With screen protectors in the box, it makes the otherwise steep £20 price tag seem a lot more reasonable. Although it would be nice to see this price closer to the £15 mark.
Ultimately, the Snaps Duo aren’t something that would tear me away from my beloved leather cases, but they represent good value as a his-and-hers iPhone case pack.
