Norwich Apple Store Grand Opening
We set off at 9am expecting to see little buzz around an Apple store in our obscure corner of England, but it seems the culture, or just cult, of Apple Fandom is alive and well even in these far reaches of Norfolk.
This day marks no more trips to the London based store, and no reliance on PC World for Apple supplies plus, of course, the occasion for my partner in her capacities of both student and teacherf to score generous discounts.
9:44 We’re constantly being smooshed up by security who, conscoius of the lack of space want us to queue in each-others pockets. Quarter hour to go.
I don’t think we’re quite sure what we’re letting ourselves in for. I heard free teeshirts for the first 1000, so it looks hopeful!
9:54 the Apple Store employees have started line dancing! They’re actually pretty good from what I can see. Lots of semi enthusiastic cheering.
9:58 doors have opened and employees disgorged for a mass high five.
Disillusioned shoppers are trying to walk past the store front and giving security grief.
Count down and everyone is entering to mass cheers. Queue is moving like lightning.
Everyone is pretty placid, typical Norwich when not inebriated, I should know, I was born here.
10:48 We’ve done our rounds of the Apple Store and picked up our rather drab free tee. It focusses too much on the chapelfield logo with a tiny little Apple.
Now considering a Mac Pro instead of an IMac, depending on what lands in the next few weeks.
Yup, I’m in the video at 1:05 – 1:20!
