Proporta Maya Leather Style iPhone 3G Case
Yes, it’s yet another iPhone 3G case review. This time it’s a slip style case which comes in an array of colours (and sizes, if you want a Maya case for a device other than the iPhone 3G) with two coloured, diagonal stripes to add interest.
The Maya case perfectly complements its bigger 10″ Netbook brother which I looked at in my “Getting the most from your Samsung NC10 article. If you’ve got a 10″ Netbook and a smaller device then these make a perfect pair.
The Maya range is a back-to-basics slip-case design which is fairly loose fitting and softly lined. There’s no pull tab to remove your phone, which you simply grip from the top and pull out. The top corners of the case are dipped down to facilitate this.
After using many, many flip and form fitting cases I find a slip case a refreshing change. For starters there’s no flap to maneuver around your headphones or dangle behind the phone when placing calls.
Using a slip case with your iPhone means that you can whip it out, pop the empty case in your pocket and use your phone completely unobstructed until it needs to be protected from lint, keys and other pocket-bound shrapnel again.
The soft lining of the case will also, to some extent, remove smudges from your iPhone screen, I use it this way from time to time.
The Maya range is well made, the diagonal stripes have visible stitching for style, and the ends of each strip tidily disappear into the seams that join the front and back of the case.
There’s little else to say about the Maya cases, the range is reasonably priced, well made, and comes in a slightly odd variety of colour combinations. Unfortunately the colour combinations are a little bold, but this could turn out to be a good thing if one takes your fancy.
I looked at the brown case and, whilst baby blue and white stripes wouldn’t be my first choice, found it to be quite attractive “in the flesh.”
