ADAM Audio A5 And Sub7
More news out of Frankfurt as ADAM Audio announces their new A5 powered monitor and Sub7 powered subwoofer both expanding the A series and complimenting it with a sub that will extend the low frequency reproduction range down to 30Hz.
The Sub7 includes both XLR and RCA inputs with fine tuning controls that are also accessible from a wireless remote control so they can also be adjusted from the intended listening point.
The A5 is a smaller version of the ADAM Audio A7 and can be used in either stereo or to produce a 5.1 surround system in combination with the Sub7. Two 2X25W on-board amplifiers power the A5 right down to 55Hz. The rear panel includes balanced XLR jacks, unbalanced RCA jacks and a new development by ADAM called Stereolink which allows speakers to be connected with input and output jacks that syncronize the overall volume of the system and allow it to be controlled from any single speaker’s gain control.
Both the A5 and Sub7 are available in matte black or glossy “piano” finishes in black or white. Unforunately the glossy finish doesn’t do it any favours when it’s something that should be heard and not seen. Still, if you have a Korg M3 the glossy white might be right up your street.
- A5 in traditional matte black – $699
- A5 in glossy black or white – $769
- Sub7 in traditional matte black – $479
- Sub7 in glossy black or white – $529
An additional optional wedge-like stand will be available to enhance desktop recording by allowing the A5 to be positioned at an upward angle. Recording aside the A5 will also perform well in mobile and broadcast applications and even multimedia uses such as gaming, home audio or home cinema setups. Of course these beauties are going to set you back a lot of cash if you want to produce even a basic 5.1 surround sound setup with them.
